Advantages of Vegetarian Diet:

Vegetarian diet has been proven to have reduced risk of developing cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, hyperlipidaemia, obesity, stroke and some mental health illnesses.

It is also lighter to digest, giving way for better absorption of nutrients and the Ayurvedic medicines consumed.


Disadvantages of Non-Vegetarian Diet:

​Harder to digest.

The incidence of high BP, Heart disease, Obesity and high cholesterol levels is found to be greater among non-vegetarians.



Exercise



30 min to 45 exercise every day what ever you can do

Yoga, Walking, Jogging, Etc

Don't Strain Your Body or Lungs or Heart during Exercise



Pulses



Eat Sufficient amount of pulses in your meal

This is easily available and easy absorbable protein, essential for everyone including babies.

Toor Dal, Moong Dal, Urad Dal



Millets



Do you eat Millets?

Try eating Millets atleast 2-3 Times a Week

Which ever form is comfortable to you



Small Eats, Snacks, Hots, Sweets



Limit these foods

Mode of Cooking



Prefer Boiling, Steaming and Baking your food

Limit your consumption of Fried food

Readymade Processed Food, Tinned Food and Frozen Food are depleted of micronutrients, so limit their consumption

Do not eat stale food.



Green Leaves



Include these in your diet atleast 4 times a week

They help in easy assimilation of nutrients and easy evacuation of bowel

They also help in building your tissues, including blood



Fresh Vegetables



These must be essential ingredients of your daily diet.

Prefer local and seasonal vegetables to exotic, foreign and preserved ones.

Include in your diet all the vegetables available.

Do not exclude any vegetable from your diet.



Spices



Spices must be taken in moderation.

They must not be totally excluded from your diet.

Eat daily spices like Ginger, Garlic, Cumin, Pepper, Mustard, etc to help aid digestion and prevent problems like constipation, flatulence, overweight, etc.

They boost metabolism and help keeping your weight under control.

However, do not eat them in excess.



Junk Food & Street Food



Avoid junk food completely if you can.

Most of the junk food is made with sub-standard ingredients, frozen and re-heated, with unnecessary additives to make the food appealing and tasty.



Hotel Food



If You Can Avoid Outside Food Strictly say no when you are on Ayurvedic Medicines

To make the food look attractive and to make it tasty, many additives and colours are used that are harmful if consumed in excess.

Many restaurants have been seen flouting hygiene norms.

Other issues like use of substandard fat, meat, vegetables and other ingredients often surface in the newspapers.

It is best to prevent children completely from eating outside.



Addictions



Addictions spoil health.

Medicines do not work when you are addicted to any substance.

It is your duty to control them with medicines or any other therapy available.

A healthy and balanced diet and lifestyle helps in getting rid of craving for addictive substances.

Drink Cow Milk daily. It helps in controlling addictions.



Sugar



Sugar can be taken in moderate quantity.

Use it only to sweeten your daily food and beverage.

Sweets must be eaten only occasionally, not daily.

Carbonated drinks contain very high amount of sugar, avoid them completely.

Substitute Sugar with Jaggery or Honey wherever possible.



Salt



Salt is an essential ingredient of food.

It need not be avoided completely.

However excess quantity must not be taken by all, not only by Hypertensive persons.

Wherever possible prefer Saindhava Lavana or Himalayan Rock Salt which is mineral rich to ordinary salt.



Water



Water is the basis for life.

Drink minimum 8-10 glasses of water per day.

It helps in proper metabolism and flushing out toxins from the body.

Water is also present in most of the food we eat, so water need not be taken in excess.



Beverages



Limit your intake of Tea and Coffee to a maximum of 2 cups per day

Avoid Carbonated Beverages that have a heavy sugar content.

They are very harmful for your health

Prefer having Herbal Teas, Herbal Cool Beverages, Fruit Juices like Lemonade, Coconut Water and Buttermilk or Lassi daily



Oil & Other Fats



Oil is essential for cooking.

Do not avoid it completely.

Eat in moderation.

Wherever possible eat Til / Sesame Oil, Coconut oil, Mustard oil or Groundnut Oil, which are healthier.
